Riding....

In a Winter Wonderland! After being snowed in for a few days with about 6 inches of snow and 2 of ice--I got out my four-hoof drive, Lazzy, to relieve the cabin fever.

The one where Lazzy tries to pick a career

This past weekend I woke up dark & early and hauled the girls to Mustang (they've always wanted to go) for an Fun Obstacles Clinic. What a great time we had! Not only did we get to meet some super smart ladies and their gorgeous horses, but we got to expand our horizons quite a bit...well see for yourself:

Should Lazzy become a log pulling ranch horse?

Or a circus pony?Or maybe she should join Medieval Knights!
But why stop there when she can be queen of it all???

Thanks Carol, Conne, Deb (aka awesome photographer!), & Shireen for a wonderful day!

Midwest Mustang And Burro Fun Show

This Saturday I hauled Lazzy and Rain up to Kansas to participate in a horse show for mustangs and it was such a blast! Just being around so many wonderful horses and owners was an amazing experience--so proud of all the mustangs!

Groomed and ready--just look at those tails!!

All the scrubbing paid off! Rain's whites were gleaming and she took FIRST!!! in Halter, Mares 3yr and older, Grand Reserve in Halter, and Second in Showmanship!! She also got 2nd in Walk/Trot! Lazzy didn't need as much show ring experience, so she was entered in mostly gaming events where I didn't think she'd do very well. She did get a 1st in In-Hand Trail, and a fourth in Barrels and a Fifth in Flags (did I mention the flag was a Walmart sack on a stick and it was a windy day?).
Lazzy watches the crazy costume class, next to a waving flag and some dogs-- riding her bareback (!!) is my trainer's teenage assistant Hailey.

Rain tackles the extreme trail obstacles
Jumps the jumps

And cruises through the tarp tunnel!

All in all... an awesome fun day!

Rain's new bosal

There were rumors around the hay bale that Rain was a little jealous that Lazzy and Cat had fancy turquoise headstalls and she had a hand-me-down bosal...

So,what else was I to do but put together a proper set up for Mizz Rain?

The turquoise conchos could be bigger, but there are more on the futurity knot brow band, so she's all happy now :-)

Weekend Riding

Rain and Lazzy hauled over to Red Tail Ranch for a double lesson in the indoor arena to prepare for an upcoming show. As far as I know, this is their first experience riding in an indoor arena, and they both did great. Lots of distractions with the pigeons, cars whizzing by the open ends, and other horses frolicking nearby.
